Project Description

Scouten Engineering worked with the Willow River Recreation Association to upgrade and certify the existing community hall. The structure was previously built by the community and the association wished to repurpose the building for events and activities.

Scouten acted as the coordinating registered professional and lead a team of consultants, including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers. A full building code assessment was performed. Scouten designed a new access ramp to provide wheelchair accessibility to the hall. Modifications to the bathrooms, electrical systems and mechanical systems were made as result of the code assessment.

New septic holding tanks were installed next to the hall which are emptied on scheduled basis. The community required fire protection due to its occupancy class, so fire water storage tanks were proposed. After working with the Regional District, Community Association, and the budget, the fire water tanks were installed on the neighbouring property, which was the community Fire Hall. Upon completion of the project Schedules of Assurance were issued and the Hall is now a place to host events and gatherings.
