Project Summary

Scouten Engineering was contracted as a sub-consultant by the project’s prime consultant, EDS Group, and as the civil and structural engineers for the development of Ron Brent Park in Prince George, BC.

Project Description

The City of Prince George engaged environmental and landscape consultant EDS Group to fulfill the prime consultant role for the development of Ron Brent Park in Prince George, BC. EDS provided the overall site layout, landscaping design contract management. Scouten Engineering worked as a sub-consultant to EDS and acted as the Civil and Structural Engineers for the project.

The civil scope included overall site grading; waterline, sanitary sewer force main, and lift station for a new washroom building; onsite stormwater management; and a new parking lot layout. The Storm runoff is collected in catch basins around the site and directed to two Stormwater Recharge Chambers.

The structural scope for the project included the Architectural and Structural design of the new washroom/storage building that will provide storage for user groups such as the local horseshoe club and City maintenance equipment. Galvanized steel stairs were installed to connect the park to the existing city side walks along Victoria Street. The park’s intended use incorporates a Toboggan hill, walking paths, horseshoe pits, provisions for future seniors’ exercise equipment, picnic tables, benches, and a new parking lot to service the Connaught Youth Centre.

Datoff Bros Construction was the general contractor for the project; they worked with the city project managers and the consultant team to find cost saving alternatives throughout the project.
