Project Summary

Scouten was contracted by Pomeroy Lodging (PLLP) to provide structural designs for cast-in-place concrete foundations for the main floor; wood framing for the second, third, and fourth floors; the amenity building, and the entrance canopy for the hotel.

Project Description

Pomeroy’s Prince George Development was Scouten’s first chance to provide services to Pomeroy PLLP. Since the start of the project in late 2014, Scouten has provided structural engineering services to Pomeroy on five of their facilities. These include the Prince George hotel, Grande Prairie Hotel, Fort St John Hotel, Kananaskis Hotel, and their head office in Grande Prairie.

The Prince George Hotel and Suites is over 70,000 square feet, four storeys tall, and includes an amenity building with a swimming pool, splash park, and water slides. The structural design provided included cast-in-place concrete foundations that support a structural steel frame for the main floor. The second, third, and fourth floors were constructed of wood framing. The amenity building that houses the pool, splash park, and water slides was designed using a combination of structural steel and concrete masonry unit blocks. The entrance canopy for the hotel was constructed using structural steel and was designed to be completely independent of the hotel structure as well as void of bracing.
