Project Summary

Scouten Engineering was brought in to work with Stinger Welding and Nahanni Construction to design and develop the steel superstructure and rough sawn timber deck for a pedestrian bridge at Cottonwood Island Park in Prince George, BC.

Project Description

Scouten Engineering is always proud to work on community enhancement projects including the latest pedestrian bridge at Cottonwood Island Park in Prince George, BC.

In the winter of 2017, Prince George construction company, Nahanni Construction was awarded the contract to build the third pedestrian bridge in the park. Prince George firm, Keery Consulting Ltd designed the site general arrangement calling for a steel bridge superstructure with a timber deck on screw piles and geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) abutments.

Nahanni engaged Stinger Welding to fabricate the bridge superstructure. Scouten Engineering worked with Stinger Welding and Nahanni to design and develop the steel superstructure and the aesthetically pleasing rough sawn timber deck.

Construction, fabrication and installation were completed the following spring and now Prince George residents enjoy the latest bridge along the several kilometre-long trail system at Cottonwood Island Park.
