At Scouten Engineering we are always looking for bright, fun and outstanding individuals, just like you. If you're looking for a place to challenge your skills, grow your career and have a little fun doing it then we encourage you to tell us about your skills, experience and future goals. If we think you’re a good match, we’ll build a job around you.
What's in Your Future?
At Scouten Engineering, we work hard and we play hard. We believe that if we support our staff professionally in every way but also encourage a healthy (and fun) lifestyle for our staff outside the office, our clients benefit as well.
We're an engineering firm that has built a solid reputation as an innovative, solutions-oriented professional consultancy. Whether we’re working to optimize the structural layout of a hotel to suit the Architect’s requirements or determining the most cost-effective way to demolish a power boiler at a pulp mill, we seek out practical, common sense solutions. We back up those practical solutions with decades of structural engineering experience.
Our days consist of hard but collaborative work in a modern, well-equipped office with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The tools of our trade are our minds, our imaginations, our creativity and occasionally Nerf guns.
Daily work start and end hours are flexible, depending on the specific requirements of our staff and their families beyond the office. Many of our staff members have young children and they use the flexibility of their work lives to help them manage hockey practices, dentist appointments, dance classes, skinned knees and Christmas recitals at school.
Work life at Scouten Engineering is anything but repetitive. You may find yourself at your computer one day and travelling to one of our local or regional clients’ job sites for field inspections the next. We encourage our staff to seek out the balance of office and field work that best suits their professional goals and lifestyles.
As a smaller firm we can offer our staff opportunities they could not expect in a larger corporate culture. It's common to see our civil technologists take the lead on projects, working cooperatively and collaboratively with the engineers in our office. We believe that every employee at Scouten Engineering should be given the opportunity to rise to whatever level of responsibility he or she feels comfortable with.
At Scouten Engineering it's all about teamwork and supporting one another. That’s good for our employees, our business and, ultimately, our clients.
Prince George is a wonderful place to live and work, with a full complement of cultural and social amenities in a beautiful, northern British Columbia setting. After work you can find us snowboarding, mountain biking, dancing, fishing, hunting, canoeing and more. Houses are very affordable in our community and commuting means a ten to fifteen minute journey each way.
